Johannes Janssonius (1588 - 1664) is the son of the publisher and bookseller Jan Janszoon the Elder, he married in 1612 Elisabeth de Hondt (or Hondius), the daughter of the engraver and cartographer Jodocus Hondius. His first maps, which represent France and Italy, date back to 1616. In 1623, he is reported as the owner of a bookstore in Frankfurt, and later in Dantzig, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Königsberg, Geneva and Lyon. During the 1630s he partnered with his brother-in-law Hendrik Hondius II to publish atlases in the name of Mercator, Hondius and Janssonius.
