Guillaume Delisle, known as “Delisle l'Ainé”, born in Paris on February 28, 1675 and died in the same city on January 25, 1726, is a French geographer and cartographer, student of Cassini. In 1700 he published his first maps, the Map of the World and the Map of the Continents, which helped establish his reputation. He is Principal Geographer of the King, and member of the Royal Academy of Sciences.
