First edition. Systematic classification of plants according to their characteristics. With a detailed preface on the history, status and development of botany. The folding plate shows a greenhouse. The French naturalist and ethnologist Adanson (1727-1806) was a member of the Paris Academy of Sciences. The “Family of Plants” (1763) is a work of historical importance, which gives clarity and coherence to the ideas of the growing number of proponents of the “Natural Method”.
